At just 6 years old, little Ava experienced family violence which left her unable to sleep, concentrate at school and focus on anything but keeping herself safe.

The devastating effects of family violence can profoundly impact a child’s life. Sadly, our recently released Still Unseen and Ignored report emphasises how these children and the issues they face may not be prioritised within our community.

Children don’t recover on their own from the devastating impacts of family violence. Australian Childhood Foundation provides specialised therapeutic services, tailored to the needs of the children and young people we support so they can heal from the trauma they have faced.

Provides one home visit from a trauma specialist to support a foster carer in using therapeutic parenting approaches to help a child heal.

Facilitates a social skills group counselling session for eight children to learn about friendships, trust and understanding social cues.

Provides trauma-sensitive training for a school, enabling teachers to understand and interpret behaviour of children who have experienced trauma.
